![]() ![]() Aftermath introduces more problems than it solves and it turns its main villain established in MK 11 in to a complete joke. With all the time spent in production, graphics, character models they didn't put enough effort into well crafted story and there shouldn't be excuses for it. If its the same story playing from the evil side, that doesn't remove the problems that MK 11 and Aftermath have regarding the inconsistent character motivation, dismantling of the lore and bastardization of characters. I'm not over thinking it, I'm clearly going over the massive flaws the story introduces by including all these new variables. How do you defeat the man who created the crown and is fully powered with three realms (four with Chaos being the wild card) in his employ to do his bidding? How do you write yourself out of this massive hole they dug for themselves when the crux of it all depends on the hourglass and the crown? This doesn't make a lick of sense because Havik would be getting off on all this. Now we gotta move on with a completely dismantled story that sets up the Chaos/Order Realms to fix things. Sheeva is probably dead now, and Fujin is a dumb dumb slave to Shang. We just got introduced to Fujin and Sheeva who were fairly well written characters until the plot demanded them not to be. The alternative is to let Shang's ending be canon in which we lose a massive chunk of the OG cast and the character development that came with them. Unless of course Titans are not all powerful and being one comes with restrictions much we see with Kronika: She can't control time without the stupid crown, which requires Shang Tsung to make and if that is the case then how was she even able to control the hourglass to begin wtih? Logically, it all ends when Liu gains possession of the crown. He is the ruler of his universe and there is nothing to stop him from perfecting his timeline so that there is peace. He is a Titan, not an Elder God, not a God, not a mere mortal. His perfect timeline would be one that doesn't have those villains and the realms existing in peace and prosperity. But ask yourself, since he can control time and space, what reason does Liu have to bring about the revival of Goro/Shao/Shang/Onaga/Shinnok? There is none. That doesn't make for an interesting game. ![]() ![]() He can bend time to his will now, no loss to Goro, no Shao, no Onaga, no nothing. Because Liu is the master of time and space, he literally has no reason to allow for any significant conflict to take place in any timeline. ![]()
